Huntington, WV – On October 17th, at 2:00 PM, Branches Domestic Violence Shelter will hold a focus group discussion at the Cabell County Public Library, Meeting Room 2, aimed at faith-based leaders from the community. The focus group will explore how faith leaders can better respond to domestic violence within their congregations, with the goal of developing training tailored to the needs of faith-based communities.
This event represents a critical step in helping clergy and other faith leaders gain the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to support survivors of domestic violence. Recognizing the unique role that faith communities play in offering comfort and guidance during times of crisis, Branches is seeking input from local faith leaders to shape training that addresses the specific challenges they face.
The discussion will cover:
Current responses to domestic violence in faith-based settings
Identifying gaps in knowledge and resources
Exploring the challenges that faith leaders encounter when supporting survivors
Collaborating on ideas for developing relevant, practical training for faith leaders
“We understand that faith leaders are often the first to hear about domestic violence within their communities,” said Sara Blevins O’Toole, Director of Development, “This focus group will allow us to partner with faith-based communities to create a compassionate and effective response that aligns with their values.”
Faith leaders are encouraged to attend this important event and offer their valuable perspectives to help shape the development of training that will benefit congregations across the region.
