At Branches Domestic Violence Shelter, we know that a warm meal is more than just food—it’s comfort, kindness, and a reminder that someone cares. That’s why we are always grateful for those in our community who participate in Meals on a Mission, providing home-cooked meals to survivors and their children in our shelters.
Recently, Karissa and her Girl Scout troop of 3rd and 4th graders donated a meal to our Putnam County shelter. Their generosity didn’t just nourish the body—it uplifted the spirits of those in need. Reflecting on the experience, Karissa shared:
“Everyone at the shelter was so nice and so grateful. For everything, down to the croutons we provided for the salad. Sometimes, it’s the little things that mean a lot, and my girls saw that first-hand last night. We definitely will be working with you all more in the future.”
Her words are a beautiful reminder of the power of small acts of kindness. Something as simple as croutons—something so easily overlooked—became a moment of gratitude and connection.
We are incredibly thankful for every individual, family, business, and organization that donates meals to our shelters. Your generosity not only provides nourishment but also instills hope and a sense of community for those who have had to leave so much behind.
If you’re interested in participating in Meals on a Mission, we’d love to have you join us! Your meal, no matter how simple, can make a lasting impact.
